SUSTAINABILITY
Recycled content
Foundry Art tiles consist of 99% post-consumer recycled content.
Manufacturing considerations
Our patinas are entirely natural, created only by the moisture in the air. (Many metal tiles have a chemical patina. This typically involves toxic materials, which require special disposal.)
No metal is wasted or discarded in manufacturing Foundry Art tiles. Scraps of metal and tiles not meeting our quality standards are melted down and the metal is reused.
Our tiles are cast in molds made of sand which is continuously cleaned and reused. The small amount of waste sand that is generated is reclaimed and sold as a consumer product.
"Cradle to cradle" lifecycle
Foundry Art tiles are highly durable. They will last for generations without needing to be repaired or replaced.
Our tile designs are fresh interpretations of traditional motifs, increasing the likelihood that they will not look "dated" as styles change.
Upon ultimate demolition of a home or installation, Foundry Art tiles can be removed without breakage or harm, and then reused, resold or recycled.
Absence of toxins
Foundry Art tiles can be cleaned with nontoxic, water-based cleaning agents.
Unlike many synthetic materials, there is no off-gassing from bronze.
Smart packaging
We have devised a way of packing our tiles to use the least amount of packing material, while insuring that the tiles arrive at their destination safely. Safe packaging keeps shipping losses to near zero levels, reducing waste and the energy cost of reshipping. In addition, our packing materials are recyclable.
Finally, we have a near-perfect record for on-time and accurate shipping, eliminating the need for redundant shipping and returns.
